Bitdefender in 2022 was my favorite antivirus.

Bitdefender was capable of delivering flawless results against all kinds and varieties of malware. Even though it did a full system scan, it didn’t slow down my computer.

Bitdefender provides both web protection as well as high-end malware protections.

Bitdefender’s password manager can be frustrating for some users. Bitdefender’s VPN provides a limited 200MB data allowance per monthly. However, it does not include key features such password security audit and two-factor authentication. Bitdefender’s Premium Security Plan allows it monitor email for potential security breach and offers a limited VPN.

Bitdefender’s UnlimitedVPN plan is the most expensive but Bitdefender still offers great value.

Bitdefender offers the best web protections. Bitdefender offers a quick VPN service, as well as extensive system tune-ups.

Bitdefender completed a system scan in under an hour. This compares to Norton’s scans which can take as long as 45 minutes.

Bitdefender is not known to slow down the system’s performance.

Bitdefender Shield provides default protections for most users. Advanced users have options to modify real time settings, include scripts or archives, and exclude any options.

I downloaded more than 100 infected.exes (compressed) as well as.txt file.

It took me 2 minutes to scan the files without any background programs.

Bitdefender saved me 1.3GB. It is simply amazing.

Bitdefender has some limitations to its tuneup tool.

Bitdefender requested Bitdefender examine the issues it flagged before clicking “Optimize”. As I wanted to know where I had stored my files and not what I was deleting

Secure Web Browser (SafePay).

Bitdefender’s secure browser, SafePay from Bitdefender, is an excellent way for you to protect your personal details against being stolen while online shopping.

These major benefits of SafePay will be highlighted.

• Protect your computer against hackers.
• Screen grabs are prohibited by others.
• Bitdefender’s password manager protects your passwords.
• Uses virtual keys to hide keystroke track.
• Turns On Built-In VPN Protection (200 MB daily limit).

SafePay was just what I needed. It was however unable to capture any screenshots due to its built-in snap-blocker.

SafePay successfully verified my PayPal account. I was unable to paste or cut my 2FA codes. This protects my passwords from keyloggers.

SafePay was not able to meet my requirements. SafePay won’t allow me streaming HD video. SafePay is not able to replace your current browser.

SafetyPay adds considerable value to Bitdefender’s already impressive web protection toolskit.

Password Manager

Bitdefender is a simple, secure password administrator. However, Bitdefender does not offer the same functions as 1Password. The password manager does include essential functions such

• Multi-device sync.
• Unlimited password storage.
• Autosave/autofill.
• Separate password vaults.
• Password generator.

You can create a password repository when Bitdefender’s Password Manager is installed. Follow these steps.

1. Choose a master password and name the wallet. A master secret hint password can also be entered.
2. You can choose which devices you want your Passwords to be synced.
3. You have the option to select from which web browsers your passwords will be imported.

There are no restrictions on the number of wallets you can create. This applies only to users that share the same computer.

Bitdefender’s Digital Wallet makes it easy to store passwords (personal information such as addresses and phone numbers), bank accounts and credit card details, license keys, logins for software, and other financial data.

Bitdefender’s browser Extension lets you automatically save or fill your passwords But, you can disable autosave for certain sites

LastPass can be used as a password manager. LastPass won’t ask you to save your login credentials. Only the best standalone password management programs allow you to disable automatic fill. This is especially important for banks. Bitdefender’s browser makes online banking safe.

Bitdefender also offers a powerful password-generator. Special characters can be used to create passwords that are simple to remember.

Bitdefender’s password managers are simple but not as powerful and as flexible as standalone password management applications like LastPass, 1Password and 1Password.

Bitdefender VPN

Bitdefender has a free VPN. But, it only offers 200MB of free browsing per month, not enough for streaming a YouTube clip.

Bitdefender Premium Security Plans and an additional VPN subscription permit unlimited browsing data. It is faster that any standalone competitor.

My internet connection before Bitdefender installed Bitdefender’s VPN on an American-based server.

It is obvious that there was no significant difference in internet speed. This is especially true if we compare it with VPNs like Panda which can dramatically decrease your download speeds, and send PING skyrocketing.

Bitdefender is great for torrenting. This contrasts with Norton’s policy where you cannot activate Bitdefender VPN if there’s a torrenting program on your machine.

Bitdefender’s premiumVPN comes with a host of amazing features. This will improve your internet safety.

Control

Bitdefender has a parental app that is separate for Windows and macOS.

Bitdefender parental controls apps were tested on my Android smartphone and Windows computer.

Next came the task of changing parental settings. Bitdefender Central helped me:

• iOS restrictions on daily use
• Set device usage schedules.
• Manage (allow/block) apps.
• There are two options for whitelisting or blacklisting sites.
• See your location and see if you’re in a safe zone. Only available to iOS and Android.
• The most recent additions to the phone’s contacts. Only available on Android and iOS

I set the settings and tested the app together with a friend. Bitdefender’s parental controls software blocked my friend from accessing websites from blacklisted categories. I tested the app with a friend. Bitdefender website filtering cannot allow children access through the app.

Bitdefender’s parental app works flawlessly. I was able track the time that my friend spent on her smartphone, her location, and what apps she used. This feature isn’t available in most antiviruses.

Bitdefender provides geo-fencing which will notify you when your child leaves the area marked as safe.

Bitdefender’s accuracy in tracking my friend’s location impressed me as well. Bitdefender tracked my friend’s location within a radius range of 20 meters (65ft span> ).

Bitdefender parental programs are the most powerful parental control apps. Bitdefender’s parental software is also a good choice.

Protection for your Microphone & Webcam Security

The Bitdefender protects your microphone or webcam from hackers listening into private conversations and watching what they see.

Bitdefender checked all apps that tried accessing my webcam or microphone. I was then able to decide if I wanted to give access.

I like the flexibility to choose which microphone and webcam access I want. I was able also to block other web browsers from accessing my microphone or my webcam.

It was my only concern that the microphone and webcam protectors could not be used on Windows devices.

Bitdefender’s protections for webcams and microphones are exceptional. It is simple to set them up, and you can easily modify them. Logging in will allow you to see which apps attempted to access the computer.

Ransomware Recovery

Bitdefender’s Runsomware Remediation can automatically protect data when it detects the ransomware.

Ransomware Treatment failed in all cases.

A list of files thought to have been restored was displayed. The List contained videos and photos.

Even though some files are missing this feature is extremely helpful considering that not all antiviruses provide it.
