Bitdefender provides a simple notification panel. Bitdefender offers a simple notification screen. This allows you view Bitdefender’s blocked websites and what they are blocking. Bitdefender can also add false positives permanently to its exception lists. Norton antivirus is not a simple program. It requires advanced settings and protocols.

Bitdefender Web Protection blocks your access to any webpage that may contain downloadable malware. Bitdefender also scans encrypted web pages and checks search results.

Bitdefender provides unrivaled antiphishing protection. Bitdefender makes it easy to whitelist certain websites or modify your web protection settings.

System Optimization

Bitdefender’s OneClickOptimizer scans your device and deletes all unnecessary files. This includes

I did the scan without any background software and it took 2 minutes.

Bitdefender’s tuneup tool has some annoying limitations.

Bitdefender suggested I review the issues I had flagged before clicking “Optimize”. The problem was irritating because I wanted the exact file location, not what was being deleted.

Bitdefeder’s program tuneup could use additional features. TotalAV offers system optimization that includes a startup management tool, an application uninstaller, file finder, duplicate file finding, and an application uninstaller.

Bitdefender is very user-friendly.

Secure Web Browser – SafePay

Bitdefender’s secure Browser, SafePay from Bitdefender, is an excellent way to protect your personal details from being stolen when making online transactions.

Here’s the best thing about SafePay

• Stops hackers remote accessing your computer.
• Restricts screen captures to you and other people.
• Bitdefender’s Security Password Manager can be used to protect passwords.
• Uses the virtual keyboard to hide keystroke track.
• Turns up built in VPN protection (200MB per day limit).

SafePay’s protections were exactly what I expected, but due to the built-in screenshot-blocker I couldn’t capture any screenshots. That’s fantastic, because intrusive hackers will also not be able to screen capture your browser.

SafePay was successfully test using my PayPal Account. It was impossible for me to type in my 2FA codes or password. Instead, the virtual keyboard was displayed right after I entered my login details. This keeps keyloggers off my password and other personal info.

SafePay did not work well for us. SafePay also didn’t work well for me. SafePay was slow to load pages and couldn’t stream HD videos. SafePay is not intended to replace your current web browser.

Bitdefender’s password admin is simple and secure. But, it does offer the essential functions a password manager should have, such as

Once Bitdefender’s Password Manager installs for the first time, you can create your password vault.

1. You will need to identify the wallet you are using and create a master key. You can also use a master password hint.
2. You will have the ability to select which devices will sync Passwords.
3. The option to choose which browsers your passwords are going to be imported from is available. Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox are supported.

Users sharing a computer can have unlimited amounts of wallets. It is possible to create multiple password vaults by using one Bitdefender accounts.

Bitdefender makes it simple to store passwords and personal information (including addresses, phone numbers, telephone numbers), bank accounts as well as license keys and logins.

Bitdefender’s password administrator is easy to use, but it isn’t as powerful as standalone password management programs like LastPass or 1Password. Keeper gives you a wide range of additional tools like password sharing, password auditing, dark web monitoring 2FA and biometric logins.

Bitdefender VPN

Bitdefender’s plans come with a complimentary VPN. It is however limited. The VPN provides only 200MB of internet browsing per day. This is not enough to stream a YouTube video.

Bitdefender’s Premium Protection Plan and a separate VPN subscription grant unlimited browsing data. Bitdefender premium VPN provides the fastest speeds available on the market. It is faster that many standalone competitors.

The following is an example of the internet connection I had before and after Bitdefender’s activation at a US regional server.

There was no discernible difference in internet speeds. Panda VPNs can dramatically reduce download speeds and send PING rocketing.

Bitdefender however is great to torrent. Bitdefender also allows you set Bitdefender VPN to connect automatically whenever a peer sharing application is launched. This contrasts starkly with Norton, which doesn’t allow you activate Bitdefender VPN if a torrenting program is installed on your system.

Bitdefender’s premiumVPN works well. But, Bitdefender Premium VPN doesn’t have the same features as standalone VPNs. Bitdefender has excellent connection speeds and encrypted surfing for users who wish to increase internet safety.

Control

Bitdefender’s parental application can be downloaded separately for Windows or macOS as well Android and iOS.

I tested Bitdefender’s parental control apps on my Android PC and Windows PC. This took just a few seconds.

Next, the ability for me to change parental settings. Bitdefender Central granted me the ability:

Bitdefender’s parental control software blocked my friend’s access to websites belonging in blacklisted categories. BullGuard, for instance, has many filters but it doesn’t block all inappropriate content. Bitdefender does not allow children to request website access through its website filtering.

Bitdefender’s parental tool worked perfectly. I was able to track my friend’s location, see her time on her phone and get notifications when she reaches a safe location. This feature isn’t available in other antiviruses.

Bitdefender features geo-fencing. This allows you to be notified whenever your child leaves a designated area.

Bitdefender’s accuracy to locate my friend’s home in a 20-meter radius impressed me. Norton can track kids.

Bitdefender parental control offers the most complete protections of any parental software. Bitdefender’s parental protection program is a great choice to parents who want to keep their children safe online and offline.

Microphone Protection and Security via Webcam

Bitdefender’s microphone protections, webcam security, and webcam security protect you against hackers watching your webcam and listening into private conversations.

Bitdefender examined all apps that attempted my webcam or microphone access. Each attempt to gain access was displayed on my screen as a notification. I was able choose to grant or deny access.

I like how flexible I can customize access to webcam, microphone, and I was also able to block any attempts from my web browser to reach my webcam or microphone. These functions couldn’t be accessed from any apps.

It was a problem that the microphone/webcam protections were only available for Windows devices.

Overall Bitdefender’s microphone and webcam protections work well. In addition, you will be able view which apps have tried accessing them.

Ransomware remediation

Bitdefender’s Ransomware Remediation protects your files automatically whenever it detects ransomware running on your system. This will allow you to restore files that have been encrypted due ransomware attacks.

Ransomware Recovery seemed ineffective in some instances.

I clicked on Restored Filesbutton in order to see a list file that was supposedly recovered. It had video clips and photos. I was able, then, to access almost every restored file with all original information intact. However, a few files weren’t properly restored.

Although a few files are missing, this feature is very useful.
