LastPass is a dedicated password manager. LastPass will ask for your permission to save your login credentials from each online account. Bitdefeder’s autofill function automatically filled me in login credentials from saved websites. But, autofill could not be disabled for some sites. All standalone password managers offer the ability to disable autofill from specific sites. This is especially valuable for banks. Bitdefender offers its browser, which makes online bank transactions safe and secure.

Bitdefender also has a very good password generator. You can access it only through the web extension. Although the default password length for this generator can be 15 characters, users have the ability to create passwords of up 285 characters. LastPass allows password lengths as high as 99 characters. This is quite amazing. Bitdefender’s automatic password-generator generates passwords automatically with both lowercase (and uppercase) letters. You can adjust settings to limit the number of these options. It is possible to allow specific characters and create passwords that are simple to remember.

Bitdefender’s password administrator is easy to use, but less powerful than standalone password management tools like LastPass and 1Password. Keeper also includes additional features such as password auditing (password sharing), dark web monitoring (2FA), biometric logins, and password sharing. Bitdefender’s online wallet is a good choice for those who don’t need an advanced password manger.

As you can see there wasn’t much difference in internet speed. This is especially true in comparison to VPNs such as Panda from companies that can reduce download speeds by up to 50% and send PING skyrocketing.

Bitdefender is however great at torrenting. Bitdefender even lets you set Bitdefender to connect automatically every time you start a peer to peer app. This contrasts sharply against Norton’s policy, which prohibits you from activating its VPN if it is already installed on your device.

Bitdefender Premium VPN is great overall. Bitdefender PremiumVPN doesn’t offer as many features as standalone VPNs. Bitdefender Premium VPN is fast and secure, with encrypted browsing.

Control

Bitdefender offers a parental app that can be downloaded separately from Windows and macOS.

I tested the parental control application on my Android smartphone and Windows PC. To set Bitdefender’s parental app up, I first navigated into Privacytab within my desktop application. I then clicked Configureunder The Parental Advisor. Bitdefender Central is an online portal where I am able to add children. Next, I set up Bitdefender Central on the device where my child would use it. This was a quick process that only required me giving permissions.

The next step was to have the ability of changing the parental settings. Bitdefender Central gave me the ability:

• Set daily device limitations (not available on iOS).
• Set device usage schedules.
• Manage (allow/block) apps.
• You have the option to whitelist or blacklist particular sites and sites.
• Track your location and ensure you are only in safe territory (only on iOS or Android).
• Access the latest additions in your phone’s Contact List (only for Android and iOS).

I set up the settings and then tried it out with a friend. Bitdefender’s parental protection software prevented my friend accessing websites from the blacklisted category. The content filters were fantastic. BullGuard for example offers many options to filter websites. Bitdefender’s parental tool worked perfectly. I could track the location of my friend, see how long she had her phone on and which apps she used. It was incredible that I could request a notification from my friend when she reached certain locations safely. This feature does not exist in any other antiviruses.

Bitdefender can provide geo-fencing for you to be notified when your child leaves a designated area.

Bitdefender’s accuracy at locating my friend’s house impressed me also. Bitdefender pinpointed my friend’s house in a radius of just 20 meters (65ft). Norton can track kids.

Bitdefender parental control offers the best parental protections. Bitdefender’s parental protection program is a great choice to parents who want their kids to stay safe online as well as offline.

Webcam Security & Protection

Bitdefender examined all apps that tried accessing my microphone/webcam. Each attempt to gain access was displayed on my screen as a notification. I was able decide whether or no access should be granted.

Bitdefender’s Ransomware Remediation protects your files automatically whenever it detects ransomware running on your system. This will allow you to restore files encrypted due ransomware attacks.

Ransomware remediation was sometimes ineffective.

I clicked on Restored Filesbutton in order to see a list file that was supposedly recovered. It even included video clips and photographs. I was able access to almost all the restored files and all the original data. It was slightly alarming that some files weren’t restored correctly.

Even though there were a few files missing, this feature was very helpful.
