Bitdefender has many amazing features. System optimization tools saved me lots and improved my PC’s performance. Bitdefender VPN runs fast and is very reliable. Bitdefender VPN speeds up and performs well. McAfee (and Avira) are not the only ones offering protection for mobile phones.

Bitdefender’s password manger can be frustrating for some. Although it’s capable of creating strong passwords and automatically saving and filling in logins, Bitdefender’s password manager can be frustrating for some users. Bitdefender’s limited VPN allows you to monitor your email for possible breaches, and only 200MB of data per day. Bitdefender’s Premium Safety plan comes with unlimited data. It is also available as an add on.

Bitdefender’s unlimited VPN plans are the most expensive. But Bitdefender still provides great value. Bitdefender still costs significantly less than many other brands, even though it has fewer functions.

Bitdefender’s OneClickOptimizer scans your device and removes any unnecessary files. This includes

I did the scan without any background software and it took 2 minutes.

Bitdefender’s Tuneup Tools has some annoying limitations.

Bitdefender recommended I review the issues I had flagged before clicking on “Optimize”. The problem was irritating because I wanted the exact location and not what I was trying to delete.

Bitdefeder’s program tuneup could use additional features. TotalAV offers system optimization that includes a startup management tool, an application uninstaller, and duplicate files finder.

Bitdefender is very user-friendly.

Secure Web Browser – SafePay

Bitdefender’s Secure Browser, SafePay from Bitdefender, is an excellent way to protect your personal details from being stolen during online transactions.

These main advantages of SafePay are highlighted.

• Restricts screen captures to you and other people.
• Bitdefender’s Security Password Manager can be used to protect your passwords.
• Uses the virtual keyboard to hide keystroke tracking.
• Turns up built-in VPN protection (200MB per day limit).

SafePay’s protections were exactly what I expected, but due to the built-in screenshot-blocker I couldn’t capture any screenshots. That’s great, because intrusive hackers will also not be able screen-capture my browser!

SafePay was successfully test using my PayPal Account. It was also impossible to type in my 2FA codes or password. A virtual keyboard was immediately displayed after I entered my login details. This prevents keyloggers obtaining my password, and other personal information.

SafePay didn’t work for us. SafePay also didn’t work well for me. SafePay was slow to load pages and couldn’t stream HD videos. SafePay is not intended to replace your current web browser.

SafePay adds great value to Bitdefender’s already impressive web protection toolkit.

Password Manager

Bitdefender’s password admin is simple and secure. But, it does offer all the essential functions that a password manger should provide.

• Separate password vaults.
• Password generator.

Once Bitdefender’s Password Manager installs for the first time, you can create your password vault.

1. Name the wallet. Then, choose a master key. A master secret password hint is also possible.
2. You will have the ability to select which devices will sync Passwords.
3. The option to choose which web browsers you want your passwords to be imported from is available. Internet Explorer. Mozilla Firefox.

There is no limit to how many wallets users can create together. It is possible to create different password vaults by using one Bitdefender accounts.

Bitdefender makes it simple to store passwords and personal information (including addresses, phone numbers, telephone numbers), credit cards as well as bank accounts, email passwords, license keys, logins to software, and bank accounts.

Bitdefender’s browser plugin allows you save passwords or fill them automatically when you log in to new sites. But, you could disable autosave when visiting certain sites.

Bitdefender also has a very good password generator. Bitdefender also has an excellent password generator. You can adjust settings to include only one of these options. However, you can also add special characters and create passwords that make it easy to remember.

Bitdefender’s password administrator is easy to use, but it isn’t as powerful as standalone password management programs like LastPass or 1Password. Keeper gives you a wide range of additional tools, such as password sharing, dark-web monitoring 2FA, and biometric logins.

Bitdefender VPN

Bitdefender offers free VPN for all of its plans. But the VPN is very limited. The VPN provides only 200MB of internet browsing per day. This is not enough to stream one YouTube clip.

Bitdefender’s Premium Protection Plan and a separate VPN subscription grant unlimited browsing data. Bitdefender premium VPN provides the fastest speeds – it is faster that many standalone competitors.

The following is an example of the internet connection I had before and after Bitdefender’s VPN activation at a US location server.

It’s clear to see that there wasn’t any difference in internet speeds. This is especially true if you compare it with VPNs such as Panda that can drastically reduce your download speeds and send PING skyrocketing.

Bitdefender, however can be used for torrenting. Bitdefender also allows you set Bitdefender VPN to connect automatically whenever a peer sharing application is launched. This contrasts starkly with Norton, which doesn’t allow you activate Bitdefender VPN if a torrenting program is installed on your system.

Bitdefender’s premium VPN is excellent. But, Bitdefender Premium VPN doesn’t have the same features as standalone VPNs. Bitdefender has excellent connection speeds and encrypted surfing for users who want to increase internet safety.

Control

Bitdefender is available for Windows, macOS and Android.

I tested Bitdefender’s parental app on my Android device and Windows PC. Although this required me to give permissions for the app to work, it only took a few seconds.

Next, the parental settings needed to be changed. Bitdefender Central granted me the ability:

• Set daily device restrictions (not available in iOS).
• Set device usage schedules.
• Manage (allow/block) apps.
• Users can whitelist, blacklist or block specific websites and web categories.
• Track your location and make sure that you are not in danger (available only to iOS and Android).
• Access the most recent additions in your contact list. Only available on Android, iOS and Android.

After setting up the settings I was able use the app with my friend. Bitdefender’s parental software blocked my friend’s access to websites belonging the the blacklisted groups. BullGuard, for instance, has many options for filtering websites, but it doesn’t block all inappropriate content. Bitdefender also lacks the ability to allow children access to specific websites via its website filtering.

Bitdefender’s parental tool worked flawlessly. I was able see how much time my friend spent on her phone, what apps she used, and track where she went. This feature isn’t available in other antiviruses.

Bitdefender features geo-fencing. This allows you to be notified whenever your child leaves a designated area.

Bitdefender’s accuracy to locate my friend’s home in a radius of 20 m (65 ft), impressed me. Norton can track kids.

Bitdefender parental controls are the most robust parental control applications. Bitdefender’s parental protection program is a great choice to parents who want to keep their children safe online and offline.

Webcam Security & Protection

Bitdefender’s microphone protections, webcam security, and webcam security protect you against hackers watching your webcam and listening into private conversations.

Bitdefender examined all the apps trying to access my webcam/microphone. Each attempt to gain access was displayed on my screen as a notification. I could choose to grant or deny access.

I appreciate the flexibility in customizing my access to webcam or microphone. My web browser was also unable to access my webcam or microphone. These functions couldn’t be accessed from any app.

It was a problem that the microphone/webcam protections were only available for Windows devices.

Overall Bitdefender’s webcam/microphone protections are outstanding. Once set up, they can be customized and you will see which apps have tried access.

Ransomware remediation

Bitdefender’s Ransomware Remediation protects your files automatically whenever it detects ransomware running on your system. This will allow you to restore files encrypted as a result of ransomware attacks.

Ransomware Recovery seemed ineffective in some instances.

I clicked on Restored Filesbutton in order to see a listing of files that were said to have been recovered. It contained video clips and photos. I was able access to almost all of the files restored, with most of the original information intact. However, a few files weren’t properly restored.

Even though there were a few missing files it was very helpful.
