also doesn’t have any contact storage. This is a big step back for competitors like RoboForm or 1Password. This can be manipulated by placing your card information within the “Notes” segment of a password section. However, this is still a workaround but not a permanent solution.

A built-in password generator is available, but it’s not accessible through the browser extension. You will need to do it in the password’s “Edit” section. It is possible to adjust character lengths and select symbols but this doesn’t make 1Password any more feature-packed. This one does what is necessary.

F-Secure’s key is ideal for those without many passwords. If you need to manage lots of information, however, look elsewhere.

F-Secure’s Key Plans and Pricing

F-Secure’s Key offers only two plans: Premium or Free.

The Free plan includes all the features previously mentioned, except for the multi-devicesynchrony, which LastPass provides free. F-Secure Key doesn’t have the most useful features, such as automatic password update and autofill. However, the free plan of F-Secure is a good option. F-Secure’s Key will suffice if your goal is to simply organize your passwords and determine which ones need improvement.

Premium customers who want multi-device sync must upgrade to the premium plan. The paid plan does not offer this feature. The upgrade must be purchased annually and is somewhat expensive for the features it provides. Although the fee isn’t outrageous, it’s difficult to justify paying for just one feature. RoboForm and LastPass offer more features than the paid plans. However, few password managers offer multi-device sync free of charge. Abine Blur is the exception.

There is no business plan or team plan. This is an odd oversight. These password managers are offered by SplashID and 1Password, and Key may be missing a lot of business because he or she doesn’t have one. Perhaps there will be an upgrade to the paid plan with additional features in the future.

F-Secure’s Key Ease of Use and Setup

F-Secure Key asks you to create a master password, and a backup key before opening the program for the first time. This feature is common for password managers.

It is interesting to note that the browser extension of the software provides little extra besides the browser autofill. The only thing you can do with this space is to lock it.

FSecure’s Key offers a versatile password import function that supports multiple methods. SplashID’s options are very limited, so this is a great feature. The application will even detect and automatically identify your file format.

Please note that autofill can only be used. F-Secure’s key does not have a hotlink for new password generation or a list stored passwords.

Passwords must be stored in alphabetical order. Although this is useful, there few ways to organize your data. SplashID’s tagging system is as comprehensive as F-Secure’s Key. A nice addition to this system would be folders, tags or categories.

You can color code information and select from a collection of popular icons. However, visual stimulation is still lacking. The order in which the passwords are shown doesn’t change with the colors.

It is not too easy to browse through the password list to find the information you seek. These extra features might not be needed, but they should not be overlooked.

FSecure Key’s mobile app is mostly a recreation from the desktop application with a few extras.

This is the breach alerts service that was mentioned earlier. This can be accessed from the sidebar. It provides useful information on hacked web sites and security firms. This is an amazing feature that I haven’t seen in any other password manager and is available to paying customers.

The “favorites” feature stores your top 8 passcodes for easy access. Autofill works well on mobile devices, and the app pops up on any forms I required it to. The device can be set to lock automatically after a time limit for maximum security.

F-Secure’s Key Security

FSecure’s keys uses industry standard AES256 encryption method. This is how multi-device sync software sends information. This is a very secure method of encryption and your information will remain safe from most hackers. Software also uses multiple hash encryptions to protect your information.

It also follows “Zero Knowledge”, which means that you only have access to the information on your device. Private keys can never be transferred anywhere else. However, this has its downsides. This means that even if you do lose your password, you won’t get any assistance from the company because they haven’t had access to it.

The platform does not have a strong recovery system. The “Master Password Recovery Code” recovery key, which is encrypted in a QR format, is yours only. Navigate to “Settings”, then save the QR code image for later access. For those who have lost their Master Password, they can simply open the file, scan the code and reset their key to access their account. This code changes each time you reset your Master Password. To access this code later, the mobile app provides its own version.

Surprisingly does not have a form of two-factor authorization (2FA). This is a bizarre oversight, considering that almost every password manager on market has one. It is ironic that a security software company has not included this crucial security feature. The software lacks 2FA, despite having solid encryption and recovery methods.

F-Secure Support for Key Customers

F-Secure’s Key includes several support options. The website has a FAQ section as well as help forums, chat support, and call support. I posted on chat and forums and received a quick reply from chat.

Although the forum response took a while, there are lots of posts there that allow you to search for questions that have been asked before. While the forums are not meant for developers’ questions, they will still respond after some time to any post. FSecure Key’s Key offers an in-depth FAQ. This section contains detailed articles that address questions concerning autofill, the mobile application and many more.

FSecure Key has a similar support system to 1Password. However, there are a few options and they all work well. Many password managers offer an in-depth FAQ just like Key’s.
