IPVanish can be an excellent VPN, but there are limitations.

IPVanish does not support streaming, so it is not recommended for that. IPVanish is unable to access Netflix. However, it can access Amazon Prime, BBC iPlayer and Disney+. DNS leak protection is available only on Windows. WebRTC protection cannot be provided.

IPVanish offers four payment options. IPVanish also offers a 500GB storage plan, as well as a VPN + 1-month subscription.

Review of IPVanish

I spent several months researching and testing IPVanish so that I could determine if it was worth it and how it compares against the best VPNs.

IPVanish has been known as one of the most reliable VPNs available for torrenting. It allows P2P traffic to all 1,900+ servers, supports torrent clients and offers 25+ SOCKS5 proxy servers. These servers offer faster speeds and don’t keep track what files you downloaded. IPVanish also protects your data with 256-bit AES encryption.

IPVanish has user-friendly applications and affordable annual plans. It allows unlimited simultaneous connections to a single account.

IPVanish Features

IPVanish offers industry-standard VPN security options.

• 256-bit AES encryption.IPVanish employs bank-grade encryption to protect your data.
• No-logs policy. HTMLVanish does NOT log any personal data, such as your IP address or files downloaded.
• Kill switch. This feature will disconnect you automatically from the Internet if your VPN connection drops. It is not supported on iOS.

IPVanish offers seven protocols including WireGuard, TCP, PPTP and L2TP/IPSec. WireGuard is also a great option. It offers much faster speeds than other protocols. PrivateVPN is a competitor that doesn’t offer WireGuard.

IPVanish has perfect forward secrecy via OpenVPN/IPSec. This protects your data from hackers using any of the older encryption keys.

IPVanish offers IPv6 protection for all of its apps. It only offers DNS leak protection to Windows. WebRTC protection does not exist. WebRTC protection will not be available.

IPVanish supports The Onion Router. (Tor), IPVanish servers have additional protection to prevent Tor network leaks. It took websites around 15-20 seconds for websites to load. Websites took about 15-20 seconds to load.

IPVanish has these features along with split-tunneling, obfuscation and other options.

Split-Tunneling

IPVanish’s split-tunneling can be used to exclude specific apps from the VPN tunnel. It is available only on Android and FireOS.

I used an IPVanish local server for torrenting and I was able stream HD videos in HD from Amazon Prime while connecting with my local network

Split-tunneling works the same way as CyberGhost VPN or ExpressVPN’s splitting tunneling. ProtonVPN lets you split tunnel IP address, web browsers, and apps.

I would also like IPVanish to offer split tunnelling for various apps such as Private Internet Access. This includes split-tunneling between Windows, Linux, and macOS.

Split tunneling with IPVanish is very easy to use. It is also very easy to exclude certain apps from the VPN tunnel for Android or FireOS. I hope IPVanish will expand this tool to other platforms.

Password Generator

IPVanish provides a password generator for free. It is very simple to use.

I was able to create a password for my tests in just a few seconds. You can select the length of your password in the dropdown menu. It can be up to 20 characters long. Additionally, you can select whether symbols should be used.

This feature is very useful because it makes it easy to create strong passwords quickly. However PureVPN and ExpressVPN offer better password generators. These password generators can be used to create longer passwords and special characters.

IPVanish offers an affordable, free password generator. It’s simple to use, and you can create a strong password in no time.

Obfuscation

IPVanish allows for obfuscation (available only with OpenVPN), however Scramble can’t bypass internet firewalls.

IPVanish customer care representatives told me that only the most restrictive countries had blocked their service.

Scramble is an excellent VPN service that hides your traffic (from your internet provider) Scramble may slow down your connection speed due to the extra layers of encryption. Scramble was 41% slower than OpenVPN connections, so it’s not recommended for torrenting or streaming.

ExpressVPN, or Mullvad VPN, are two options to bypass internetcensorship.

Scribble is a traffic obfuscator that doesn’t work in certain countries and will slow down your speed.

IPVanish Privacy & Security

IPVanish explicitly states in its privacy statement that IPVanish will not log your IP address, or track what websites are visited

IPVanish will not keep your email address. This is done to communicate with and process refunds and payment processing.

IPVanish shared user data in 2016 with the US authorities. Although it helped to capture a child pornography dealer, IPVanish violated their no-logs policy.

StackPath acquired IPVanish’s parent firm in 2017. They did an independent audit of IPVanish’s parent firm in 2017 to confirm its no-logs VPN status. This is a serious oversight.

IPVanish is headquartered in the United States. This is part 5/9/14 Eyes Alliances. It is a group that shares surveillance data. IPVanish’s headquarters is in the US. Private Internet Access, however, is also located there. Private Internet Access’s “nologs” policy, although it has not performed an audit, has been repeatedly supported in court documents.

IPVanish may not have followed its no-logs policy in the past, but now it is owned by a new owner who has a strict policy against all logs. IPVanish would be great if it released the results from an independent audit that showed it does NOT store any user data.

IPVanish Speed

I ran speed tests connecting all 50+ countries IPvanish has servers. My speed decreased by an average of 83%. However, I live and work in Romania where the internet is the fastest anywhere in the world. My American colleague requested that I run speed tests. IPVanish helped him to lower his average speed 33%. That’s quite remarkable. WireGuard was the fastest protocol used to speed test.

I was able, as you would expect to, to access servers in the home country at the fastest speed. However, I had to wait around 20-30 seconds to connect to a server, no matter where it was located. According to a US colleague, it took him only 10 seconds.

I performed my first speed test, without connecting to an IPVanish Server, in order to establish a baseline.

Next, I used IPVanish’s QuickConnectfeature for connecting to a server located in Romania. While my download speed was slower at 75%, I still had an amazing online experience. Websites, 4K videos and large files loaded quickly.

Connecting to a US Server resulted in a 91% reduction in speed. A drop in speed of 91% was experienced when connecting to a US server. Websites loaded in 5 seconds, 4K videos took 10 seconds, and VoIP calls were not interrupted or frozen.

Finally I was able connect to a VPN Server in Japan. While websites and 4K videos took 5 seconds to load, there was no buffering when I was viewing the content.

However, I wanted to find out the internet speeds of my American colleague with IPVanish. To determine his internet speed, he connected to his local network.

QuickConnect then linked him to a New York City server. This allowed him to stream, download, torrent and browse very quickly.

My colleague connected to the German server, experiencing a 21% drop in speed. Websites loaded in 2-3 seconds. A 20GB file took 25 minutes to download. This is quite slow. During a call to a friend from the UK, there were no drops or freezes.

He experienced a 46% drop in speed when he connected with a server in Australia. The start of TV and movies took about 5-10 seconds, but there was no interruption once they began. While websites can take up to five seconds to load, my colleague kept torrenting at a very fast speed.

IPVanish provides a great mix of speeds between distant servers and local servers. However, connecting to a server can take up to 30 second. Websites load slower on distant servers. But, I was still able to torrent, stream, and make VoIP phone calls from all servers at lightning speeds.

IPVanish Servers & IP addresses

IPVanish provides 1,900+ servers in over 50+ countries, and 75+ locations.

VPNs have a large network of servers. CyberGhost VPN operates 7,400+ servers in over 90+ countries. ExpressVPN offers 3,300+ servers in more than 90 countries. IPVanish offers servers in 90+ countries. Users can search for servers nearby.

IPVanish is an excellent VPN. It shows the ping, which indicates the time it takes for an internet signal from your device to reach the VPN server. The server load percentage tells how many active users are connected. This helps users find fast servers.

IPVanish’s support for P2P is also something I love. It allows torrenting on any server. ProtonVPN is another example of a VPN that allows torrenting on P2P Servers.

IPVanish claims that it has over 40,000 IP addresses. This should make it easier to access streaming sites and prevent reCAPTCHAs. These are tests websites use in order to verify whether visitors are human or bots. I encountered many reCAPTCHAs while trying to access streaming sites.

IPVanish does NOT offer dedicated IPs. These are IP addresses you have been assigned by IPVanish. These IP addresses are offered by PrivateVPN at no additional cost.

IPVanish’s server network covers most of the planet. It provides information about the ping, server loads and other important data to make it easy to find the fastest servers. It allows P2P traffic with over 40,000 IP address.

IPVanish Torrenting & Streaming

IPvanish’s ability access streaming services is very limited. IPVanish worked with Netflix in the UK. However, I was able to watch less-known streaming sites like Crackle and VRV with my Canadian colleagues.

IPVanish support representatives confirmed that IPVanish was blocked by streaming sites. They suggested I buy StrongDNS, IPVanish’s sister business, to stream streaming content.

ExpressVPN, or Private Internet Access, are the best VPNs available for streaming.

IPVanish can be used for torrenting. IPVanish is also compatible with major torrent clients, such as Deluge and Vuze.

IPVanish’s 25+ proxy server servers for SOCKS5 are something I love. These servers replace you IP address with one from the country that you are connected to, and offer faster downloads.

Before I began torrenting, I did IPv6 leak testing on servers across 10 countries.

IPVanish supports Netflix and other streaming websites, but it doesn’t work with Amazon Prime and BBC iPlayer.

IPVanish Government Overpassing

IPVanish cannot be used in countries with restrictions.

IPVanish support representatives said that many countries including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Saudi Arabia had blocked their service.

ExpressVPN can be a great option if you are restricted in internet access. It works reliably, bypasses internet restrictions and is highly secure.

IPVanish Plans & Pricing

IPVanish provides two types of subscriptions. A VPN subscription and a VPN + Storage option.

Both subscriptions come in a 1-month or 1-year package. Bundled Plans are great for cloud storage, sharing and backups.

IPVanish offers a great price for its first year of its 1-year contract. It costs D85690 a month. IPVanish’s monthly prices double after the first one year.

IPVanish makes it easy to pay using PayPal and 6 credit cards. However, I prefer the option to pay with crypto. This offers greater privacy and CyberGhost VPN is an affordable VPN that accepts crypto payments.

IPVanish offers 30-day money back on all yearly plans (most VPNs offer moneyback guarantees on all plans).

IPVanish Mobile Apps & Desktop Apps Simple-of-use

IPVanish provides apps for Android and iOS. In just 1-2 minutes, I was able install the desktop apps onto my MacBook Pro and Windows 10 computer.

Android

IPVanish’s Android application is intuitive and easy to use.

It is easy to locate a fast server manually by using the QuickConnect tool. IPVanish organizes servers alphabetically based on country, city, and ping.

The Android application also provides descriptions of each connection setting. I was able to see the sentences under Reduce MTU size Mobile Networks (which solves connectivity issues over mobile data) and it has wireguard, OpenVPN or split-tunneling.

IPVanish Android application does not have DNS leak protection or IPv6 support. If you want an Android VPN with built-in kill switches, CyberGhost VPN or ExpressVPN can be used.

IPVanish’s Android application is very good. However, it does not include a kill switch nor leak protection. It offers split-tunneling and secure protocols. It is also user-friendly.

iOS

IPVanish’s iOS app looks similar to the Android one, but it lacks the same features.

You can save favorite servers to the Favorites tab in the iOS App. Siri Shortcuts are available that allow you to quickly launch and stop the iOS app.

The iOS app lacks a kill switch, IPv6 protection or DNS leak protection. I was also unable to connect to a server via IKEv2 using the iOS app. This was something I had to investigate myself in order to determine if Alternative Connection Mode should have been used.

There’s a lot of better iOS apps. ExpressVPN iOS app has the fastest speeds, strongest security features, and unblocks tons of streaming services. Private Internet Access iOS application has an embedded kill switch.

IPVanish’s iOS app lacks key features and is slow, but it’s still safe and easy to use.

Windows/Mac (Desktop)

IPVanish desktop apps have a different look than their mobile counterparts. But, they are still easy to use and provide great features. Quick Connect makes it easy to manually select a server from an app. The map also shows all server locations. Maps are also available from TunnelBear and ProtonVPN, two of the competitors.

The macOS app and Windows app offer many protocols. This allows you to choose different protocols from different purposes. PPTP (SSTP), PPTP (PPTP) and L2TP are also included in the macOS App. However, it also offers IPSec.

You can use the kill button on both desktop and mobile apps. The Windows app does not have IPv6 protection or DNS leak protection. This protection is not available in the macOS application.

IPVanish desktop apps have intuitive interfaces and a large variety of protocols. However the Windows app has DNS leak prevention.

IPVanish Apps – How easy can you use IPVanish?

Yes. IPVanish provides easy-to–use apps for iOS and Android.

Although interfaces for desktop and mobile apps may differ, they both share an intuitive design.

Split-tunneling features are available in the Android application. Split-tunneling can be found in the Android app.

Support for IPVanish customers

IPVanish provides a wide range of support services, including 24/7 chat support, email support and phone assistance.

You can find support articles in categories like billing questions, setup guides, frequently asked questions (FAQs), and more. They solved all my problems and I didn’t need to call customer service as often.

IPVanish offers phone support. It provides support in seven countries: Brazil, Mexico, Australia and Brazil. Support is available from Monday through Saturday between 7am-7pm CT.

IPVanish’s live chat was very quick. I was connected within minutes almost every single time I tried to use the live chat. Reps are also able to translate into other languages.

IPVanish took approximately 7-8 hours for me to get back to me. But, they were very responsive and answered all of my questions.

IPVanish is known for providing excellent customer service.

IPVanish: Does it rank among the top VPNs in 2022?

IPVanish features a user-friendly interface and good security features. It also offers unlimited simultaneous connections.

It boasts more than 1,900 servers in 50+ different countries. P2P traffic can be done on all servers. There are intuitive apps for iOS and Android, as well as Windows and macOS Linux and Linux.

My tests revealed that I had very high speeds on my Romanian server (Romania) as well as on distant servers in Japan and the USA.

CyberGhostVPN and VPN are excellent options if you need a VPN to work with Netflix or other streaming services.

Does IPVanish slow down your internet speed?

IPVanish can slow down your internet speeds, but this is a very common practice among VPNs. However, a colleague from the US performed speed tests, and found that IPVanish didn’t reduce his internet speed by an average of 38%. That is because IPVanish was not able to slow down my internet speed by 83%. I am from Romania, which has very fast internet speeds. Even with the slowdown, I was still able to surf, torrent, and even play games across all IPVanish server.

IPVanish makes connecting to fast servers easy — there are 1,900+ servers around the world, so it’s easy to find one close to you. There are more than 25 SOCKS5 proxy servers that provide faster speeds than IPVanish’s regular servers.

IPVanish keeps logs?

IPVanish does NOT keep logs. IPVanish does not keep logs. IPVanish did not disclose the results of the audit, unlike top VPNs, such as TunnelBear, VyprVPN and ExpressVPN.

Is IPVanish free?

IPVanish does offer a 30-day guarantee that your 1-year plan will be returned in full. This allows users to try the product before they commit to a longer-term contract.

Even though there are many free VPNs out there, I don’t recommend them. VPNs can slow down your internet speed, log your internet activity, and have poor customer service.

Instead, I recommend using an affordable premium VPN like IPVanish. The 1-year subscription costs D856,690 per monthly. This is comparable to the top VPNs.
