Kaspersky’s antivirus scanner and anti-malware protection is very powerful. It detected all the malware samples during my testing.

Kasperskys features are good, but not the best. Kaspersky is missing key features like 2FA (2FA) or dark web monitoring that are offered by most of the top password management programs in 2022. Avira’s system cleaning tools can be very useful. However, other rivals offer more options for optimizing computers. While all plans include a VPN for free, the service only allows you to connect to one server and offers 200MB/day. This can make it slow. Backup and Restore are available for free on your Dropbox account. Dropbox allows all users to store 2GB, so it isn’t worth anything.

Kaspersky Total Security still offers excellent internet security solutions. It offers a top-quality antivirus scanner with many useful features at an affordable price. Kaspersky seems to be one the most transparent antivirus businesses. Kaspersky recertified after it was revealed that Kaspersky worked with Russian intelligence to steal US-related data in 2017.

Kaspersky offers three pricing options that can cover 3-10 devices. The plan offers a great deal on the first year, as well as a 30-day refund policy (14 days for UK customers span>).

Kaspersky Security Features

Antivirus Engine

Kaspersky uses the cloud-based virus scanner along with a virus database to detect malware. The cloud scanner uses machine-learning technology to determine if a file is malware.

McAfee (Novaty), Bitdefender or McAfee make use of a variety signature databases and machine learning. Kaspersky is another top competitor in malware detectors — it detected 100% percent of the malware samples that were tested.

Kaspersky offers 5 kinds of virus scans

• Quick Scan. Quick scan of all system memory and startup files. Also, look out for boot sectors.
• Full Scan. The full scan will check every file, folder and partitioned space in your system.
• Selective Scanning. Allows you to scan any file and drive.
• Scan your removable drive. This program scans removable hard drives, such as USB sticks. USB sticks, portable hard drives).
• Vulnerability scanning. Vulnerability scanning. This includes malware-prone software as well as out-ofdate software.

Kaspersky also offers many scan-scheduling alternatives. You can choose when to scan, after each update or at a certain time.

To test Kaspersky, nearly 1000 types were installed on my computer. They included trojans and rootkits as well as ransomware. I then ran a Quick Scan. This took less that 2 minutes. This was very quick. For a better understanding, VIPRE performed a Quick Scan in ten minutes. This is 5x faster than it took!

Kaspersky Quick Scan could not locate every malicious code on my system. The scan only scans critical areas like the ones loaded when your OS begins. However, this is to be expected.

Kaspersky suggested to me that I run a full scan in order for my whole system to be examined.

Bitdefender’s 1 hour scan took just 45 minutes to complete. Kaspersky produced excellent scan results. It took 45 minutes to complete the “FullScan” and it didn’t slow down my computer.

The scan was successful and I was able see the files that were detected in “Quarantine”.

Kaspersky gives you the option of recovering files from infections after they’ve been deleted and quarantined. Kaspersky can be used to recover legitimate files, even though some users may not wish to.

Kaspersky will not delete any malware found if you cancel the scan before the deadline. Kaspersky may warn you several times. Kaspersky will warn you again. However, the “Notification Center” offers additional options for dealing with malware detected during the interrupted scan.

Next, Kaspersky’s instant protection was put to the test. It quietly runs silently 24/7 and scans all apps on your device.

I was able to test the effectiveness of real-time security. It stopped all the malware files I tried to download onto it. Kaspersky alerted us when the malware was detected. I have two options: to get more information, or to delete the malware right away.

I ran the ransomware simulator, and it failed lock any files until Kaspersky’s real-time protection stopped it.

Last, I used the vulnerability check to identify any software insecure on my system that could have been exploited by hackers.

Even though there were only two instances where my computer was using outdated software, the “Vulnerability Scoring” report was thorough. The scanner identified an old version Photoshop and provided detailed information about my vulnerabilities. This included information on how and when hackers exploited the vulnerability. Kaspersky is unable to allow you update apps within its antivirus. Avira, another competitor, offers an automatic update function that will quickly fix any security vulnerabilities in your system.

Overall, Kaspersky has a very good antivirus engine. It offers a 100% detection rate, multiple scans options, excellent real-time protection, and does not slow down during a full scan.

Protection of the Internet

Kaspersky Protection and combine to identify and block fraudulent urls.

Web Anti-Virus analyzes web pages visited and compares them to a database that includes malicious URLs. It also uses Heuristic Analysis (to identify suspicious behavior).

Kaspersky Protection browser Extension – which is included with software – also detects malware. It blocks tracking and marks websites safe/unsafe. It also blocks ads.

I installed the Anti-phishing Extension on Microsoft Edge (Mozilla Firefox), Google Chrome (Google Chrome), and Google Chrome. Kaspersky blocked numerous known harmful websites from which I had visited.

Kaspersky had good results, but Bitdefender & Norton were better at detecting my test link.

Kaspersky Protection’s tracking blocker stops tracking from social media and web analytics. Anti-tracking features can also be used to track advertising agencies. However, users can decide to allow data collection on specific websites. This is a great feature. However, it’s not something I love. Kaspersky Protection and its affiliates (a total of 82 websites) can still use the default settings. User data. It is very easy to prevent Kaspersky partners from collecting data. Kaspersky needs to question users about the installation of the extension.

The browser extension allows you to open a virtual keypad. Panda Dome doesn’t offer a virtual keyboard, but it does work well. There aren’t many competitors. Kaspersky also offers extra protection against keyloggers.

Kaspersky’s keyboard works with Safe Money. Kaspersky asked me permission to test this feature with several banks. Unfortunately, the secure browser took 10 seconds each time it loaded. Bitdefender also offers Safepay security browser. It loads much faster that Kaspersky’s Safe Money.

Overall, Kaspersky Web Protection’s features are excellent. Kaspersky’s antiphishing protection detected most of the phishing website sites that I tested. Kaspersky’s anti-tracking, ad blocker, and anti-tracking features are both great. But I don’t like that antitracking can be turned off on Kaspersky as well as its 80+ affiliated sites. Kaspersky’s secure browser is great for banking sites.

System Cleanup tools

Kaspersky offers a variety of PC cleaning tools, such as Privacy Cleaner, Unused data Cleaner, and PC Cleaner.

Kaspersky’s PC cleaner searches your system for browser extensions and other programs that aren’t used often.

I used the PC Cleaner to clean my Windows 10 laptop. It took the cleaner only 2 minutes scan the entire system. These results were really impressive.

A PC cleaner identified all prepackaged software and gave me options to delete, ignore or use a Google search to learn more about each program.

Kaspersky’s cleaner for PC allows you to select the apps that you wish it to clean. This includes any apps you do not want to consent to. It can also slow down your startup time and display banners.

Kaspersky’s Unused file Cleaner scans files in Recycle Bin and logs. The scan revealed many files. There are several options available for dealing with these files.

Finally the Privacy Cleaner cleans your browser history & cookies.

Kaspersky does have good system cleanup tools. But, I’d like to see Kaspersky add more system optimization options. Even though you can defer system scans when the battery is low or the CPU is under heavy load (although it’s useful), I would love to see Kaspersky offer more system optimization tools.

Kaspersky’s system cleanup tools let you quickly and efficiently remove unneeded files or traces of online activity. These tools don’t have the best features, but they do the job well and can speed up your computer.

Virtual Private Networks (VPN)

Kaspersky’s free VPN is included in all Kaspersky’s plans. It comes with a daily limit 200MB. The VPN doesn’t allow unlimited browsing. If Kaspersky VPN is what you prefer, you can add the premium subscription.

Kaspersky has a premium VPN provider:

• Unlimited browsing data. No data limits daily.
• Kill switch. Data transfer will be stopped in the event that VPN is lost/damaged.
• Smart Protection. Smart Protection automatically launches the VPN whenever you are connected on a network.
• Servers are available in 25+ areas. Customers may connect to any server including the most powerful.

I wanted speed testing results for both premium and free VPNs. I set up speed testing for each VPN.

We have the result.

As you can see, the free VPN allowed me to download at a normal rate. In fact, it actually increased. I did notice a noticeable decrease in upload and downloading speeds. This was most evident when I attempted to upload files through P2P network.

Here are the results of the premium VPN version. It connects to Kaspersky’s fastest server:

Premium VPN speeds made it slower to upload. My browsing speed was not affected by the ping, but my upload speed was even slower with premium VPN. I was still able to surf the internet at normal speed despite having the VPN disabled. However, my download speed increased as a result of ISP throttling.

Kaspersky’s premiumVPN offers another advantage: the ability to use streaming services like Netflix.

Although the free VPN might not be the best, the premium VPN offers good speeds and decent amounts of servers all around the globe. It can be purchased as an individual purchase and does not come with Kaspersky’s main anti-virus package.

Password Manager

Kaspersky’s password manger secures passwords and other sensitive data — such as bank cards numbers, addresses, or even notes — with 256-bit AES encryption.

Kaspersky’s password Manager Free Edition lets you store up to 15 passwords. It is definitely not enough for most users. There is no limit on the number of passwords you may store in the premium password management. Kaspersky PremiumPassword Manager is excellent, however it is only available with the most expensive plan.

Kaspersky’s Password Management Software must be downloaded separate from antivirus. If you want to create a master key, you’ll need it set up before you can start Kaspersky. Kaspersky will not allow you to access your password vault if your master password is ever forgotten. Kaspersky has a very good zero-knowledge password management program. Kaspersky provides account recovery and emergency access options. This is something I like. LastPass also offers these features.

Once you have imported your passwords, you need to install the browser Extension (available only for Chrome Firefox Yandex Edge Safari & Safari). Kaspersky’s autosave/autofill functionality worked flawlessly in all my tests. Kaspersky can only support auto-filling bank addresses and bank cards on Macs and computers. It can’t do it on mobile.

Kaspersky’s password manager makes it simple to navigate. All options and features are clearly labeled, making them easy to find. Kaspersky allows you not only to add passwords on websites but also documents, addresses, and notes.

Kaspersky offers a password generation tool that you can access using the browser extension or app. The generator is capable of creating passwords with between 4-99 characters. These passwords can include numbers, symbols, uppercase letters and numbers. LastPass and other password managers are also available.

Kaspersky has fewer features than other standalone password manager like two-factor authorization (2FA), an automatic password changer (APC) and encrypted cloud storage.

Kaspersky is a basic password management tool.

Parental Controls

Kaspersky’s parental controls (“Safe Kids”) are a great option to help protect your child online.

Similar to the password manager application, parental controls can also be downloaded as a separate program. It takes just a few moments to set it up. It also includes a tutorial about how to talk to your children regarding internet safety.

Kaspersky’s Content Filters also worked great. I was able limit sites by category, but also to create exclusions. Safe Search can be used for preventing inappropriate content from being displayed within search results. This feature is available on all major browsers (Google, Yahoo, Bing, and YouTube).

Block apps by categories (not possible for iOS), and entertainment apps, like games.

I tested the location tracking and geofencing functions on my Android smartphone. They were capable of tracking my location and sending alerts if I left the designated safe areas.

Kaspersky Safe Kids allows you to monitor your social networks. I find this very useful. Other antiviruses may offer parental controls, but Kaspersky Safe Kids isn’t.

Kaspersky parental controls have the highest level of detail. Kaspersky offers advice on how to speak to your child about parental restrictions.

Additional Features

Kaspersky also uses several other tools, including

• Webcam protection.
• Backup, Restore.
• Rescue Disc.
• Data encryption & shredder.
• Gaming mode.

The webcam protector alerted me when I accessed an App that used the webcam of my laptop, such as Zoom or Skype. Kaspersky provides this extra layer, but I’d like to see a microphone protection. Bitdefender offers both microphone and webcam protection.

Backup and Restore is a tool that allows users to save files to a removable disk or an online cloud storage. You have two options. One is to use Dropbox (default), and the other is to connect Kaspersky or another service. However, this feature doesn’t offer much value. Dropbox provides 2GB storage at no cost to all users. To access more storage, users will need an upgrade. Kaspersky does offer backup. Norton is superior and provides more storage space without paying an additional fee.

Kaspersky Rescue Disc’s feature can be very helpful. This allows you to erase infected computer immediately after it has started. This feature can be activated by downloading Kaspersky rescue disk and then uploading it to a USB/CD/DVD. Use the Rescue Disc on your computer to disinfect it. ESET, Panda, or Panda both offer this option.

Data encryption allows you to keep sensitive files safe and secure. Data shredder allows for permanent deletion.

Gaming mode can pause notifications, scans and alerts while you’re gaming or when an app has been in full-screen mode. BullGuard provides a better gaming experience than Kaspersky. This game booster actually enhances gameplay performance.

Kaspersky provides a wide range of other tools that are extremely useful. Kaspersky could add advanced tools, such as identity theft protection and dark Web monitoring, to its premium plans. McAfee and Norton have the best antiviruses available, like TotalAV and BullGuard, which offer US users identity protection and dark-web monitoring.

Kaspersky’s extras make a good addition to antiviruses that only offer basic protection against viruses. Kaspersky Backup and Restore aren’t that useful to me. However, I like the Rescue Disc functionality for saving severely infected computer systems.

Pricing and Kaspersky Plan Details

Kaspersky provides 3 packages. They are very affordable given the number and quality of features they contain.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus lets you choose to protect 3, 5, and 10 Windows computers. Kaspersky Internet Security is capable of protecting 3, 5, 10, or 10 Windows, Macs, or Android devices. Kaspersky Absolute Security protects 5, 10, or 20 Windows or Mac devices.

Kaspersky doesn’t offer free products in its main antivirus line. Kaspersky Security Cloud Free has a discontinued product called Kaspersky Anti-Virus Free. This product provides basic antivirus protection as well as a limited VPN.

Kaspersky Easy to Use and Setup

Kaspersky’s installation and configuration is very easy.

Kaspersky’s user interface is very professional. Kaspersky’s user interface is professional looking.

Kaspersky will only display the features you have accessed. This is what makes Kaspersky so unique. Plans below the bottom-tier plan do not have greyed out options or upgrade prompts. This is fantastic because Kaspersky makes packages feel complete.

Kaspersky’s tools might be difficult to locate. The PC Cleaner is not easy to find. Click on “More Tools”, Clean Optimize, and then click on the “PC Cleaner” sidebar.

After getting used to Kaspersky’s UI interface, you will find it easy to learn. There are many ways you can personalize your experience.

I find the Notification Center to be very useful. You can also access it through the main Kaspersky Window. It provides you with important information and allows you make decisions.

The Notification Center makes switching between the various functions easy. Notification Centers are a way to notify you when your antivirus program goes down.

Kaspersky can be difficult to understand. But once you become familiar with it, it’s very simple to navigate.

Kaspersky Mobile App

Kaspersky is an Android internet security app. However iOS users only have access to the most essential security features: parental controls. Password manager.

Security Cloud iOS

• Adaptive Privacy Modifies settings based on user behavior. The public network connection will activate a VPN automatically.
• Security live. iOS security fixes. A good example is jailbreaking.
• Account check. Checks your email for data breaches.

It comes with a QR scanner.

Android offers many more options. The Android app was compatible with my Huawei Mate 30L Lite.

Kaspersky’s Android mobile application has:

• Antivirus scanner.
• Call blocker.
• Anti-theft.
• Real-time protection.
• App lock.
• Anti-smishing (SMS phishing).
• Protection by browsing.

It is simple to start the antivirus scan from within the program. Here are some scans you can run:

• Quick scan. Scan downloaded apps for malware.
• Perform complete scanning. Search the entire device for malicious software.
• A folder scan. Scanning of a folder.

During a scan of my phone, I found 80 malicious software.

Kaspersky detected every malware file in just 5 minutes. It quarantined them automatically.

The app’s real-time protection works great. It detected all malware in my system and blocked me downloading malicious apps from Google Play Store. This is a good feature. However, Norton Mobile Security App Advisor is what I prefer. They can alert you to potential dangers before downloading them.

Kaspersky detected dangers from app downloads, but quarantined them promptly to keep my device safe.

Kaspersky has a mobile app that provides anti-theft protection. To make it happen, you need to create your Kaspersky profile.

Signing in to My Kaspersky Online Hub allows you to access four anti-theft functions, including the ability of locking or wiping your device, sounding an alert, and taking photos of the person using the lost/stolen device.
