McAfee Pros and Cons

McAfee Antivirus Subscription Plans are very similar in terms of features and functions. Both antivirus providers are well-respected, but the main difference between them is their price. McAfee’s plans, on the other hand, are much more affordable than Norton’s. They require a minimum commitment of two years. Although it is difficult to price apples to apples, McAfee offers far better options once you do the math.

McAfee Total Protection Family plan and Norton 360 With LifeLock Select provide protection for devices running Windows and macOS as well as Android and iOS. Both provide similar cybersecurity, privacy, antivirus and privacy protections. They also include parental controls, an unlimited VPN, dark Web monitoring, a pass manager and identity theft coverage.

Norton 360 with LifeLock Select cost $99.48 the first year and $149.99 every year thereafter. This covers up five devices.

McAfee’s Total Protection Family plans cost only $29.99 and $119.99 per year. They cover up to 10 devices. McAfee’s plan is only affordable if you purchase it for a minimum of two years.

McAfee is required to pay $59.99 upfront for a two year commitment. That compares with $249.47 per year for Norton 360 Select. The first year costs $99.48, and the second, $149.99. McAfee costs $239.98 ($119.99) per year, but Norton LifeLock is $299.98 ($149.99) each year.

McAfee will pay $299.97 per McAfee’s 10-device Total Protection Family subscription, while Norton will pay $549.45 per Norton 360 with LifeLock Select subscription, which provides similar cyber security protection.

Norton 360 with LifeLock® Advantage ($191.88 per year, $249.99 per year thereafter) will provide coverage for 10 devices. McAfee has not included LifeLock as an option in any of its Total Protection plans. LifeLock monitors financial and banking activity.

McAfee’s bundled identity protection includes dark Web monitoring, Social Security Number Trace, to alert you to identity fraud, 24/7 access and trained customer service representatives that can help you if your identity is compromised. McAfee isn’t as generous with recovery or loss compensation as Norton for its identity theft protection.

McAfee’s monitoring only Experian is excluded. Norton monitors all three major credit reporting agencies. McAfee identity theft protection is more comprehensive than Norton’s. McAfee provides three additional identity theft protection plans.

Norton’s coverage for identity theft, which includes up to $1,000,000 in insurance reimbursement and insurance features, may be more extensive than McAfee. You decide whether Norton’s extensive ID theft, financial protections and insurance coverages will be worth twice as much or not.

Norton 360 Deluxe is Norton’s best-selling product. It’s priced at $49.99/$99.99. It offers protection up to five devices and is comparable to McAfee’s 5-device Total Protection Individual & Couples ($34.99/$99.99). Although Norton 360 Deluxe is missing LifeLock’s extensive financial identity and identity protections, it still offers many of the same features McAfee has, including:
