This is my top-rated antivirus program in 2022.

Norton’s antimalware engines are based on machine-learning and advanced algorithms. It also maintains a constantly updated malware database. The engine can detect all kinds of malware, from trojans and viruses to ransomware, cryptocurrencyjackers, and others. There was little system slowdown.

Norton is a good VPN, but it’s not perfect. It also does not permit torrenting.

Norton will detect full screen mode and notify you if it is enabled. Norton also won’t initiate scheduled scanning or send notifications. Norton will automatically suspend all notifications when you go fully screen. Norton is a very good antivirus.

Norton’s Malware scan is excellent. The system scan identified all malware on my computer and was fast and easy to schedule.

Smart Firewall

Norton Smart Firewall has a significantly higher detection rate than Windows or macOS builtin firewalls.

Advanced users have the option to modify Norton’s firewall. These include File and Printer Sharing and Network Discovery. Remote Desktop Connection. File and Printer sharing. The Permissionswindow provides a comprehensive list of these options.

Norton lists 136 uncommon protocols. Norton also has 136 rare protocols. These protocols can be used to communicate with malware. Norton will alert users in the event of suspicious activity.

Norton Smart Firewall is a fantastic product.

Safe Web & Safe Search

Norton’s Safe Web extension works with Chrome Firefox Safari Safari Edge. This extension offers community reviews and protection against phishing sites.

Safe Web Browser Extension provides excellent anti-phishing Protection. Sites that Chrome failed to detect or McAfee’s top rivals were also detected by this browser extension.

Safe Web offered me to isolate my browser. I was disconnected with my rest system when it accepted my request.

Norton SafeSearch didn’t win my vote.

Dark Web Monitor (Select Only Country)

LifeLock scans dark forums to protect your identity in the United States. Credit reports, breach databases and credit report scans for any signs of theft.

Norton’s darknet monitoring scans a large array of personally identifiable data (PII).

• Bank account numbers.
• Credit cards
• Addresses.
• Information concerning driver’s license
• Insurance numbers

Norton offers a more secure data breach monitoring system than other companies. These agents are paid by dark web forums and can provide feedback and help if you have any information.

LifeLock Identity Thieves Protection Services are exceptional. LifeLock informs you about any loan, purchase, or other transaction that could involve personal information. LifeLock alerts anyone who attempts to use such information.

LifeLock offers no protection for US users. TotalAV provides less protection than LifeLock’s.

Norton LifeLock Plans are the best option to protect your personal and financial information.

Secure VPN (Virtual Private Network).

You can hide your IP from any of the thousands worldwide servers.

Norton VPN has other security features.

Norton’s VPN speeds have been quite good. While they are not slow, the connection speeds for Norton VPN are excellent.

This internet access is via my local network.

Next, I performed speed tests using Norton VPN at a US-based location.

Although my download speed was much slower, my “ping” was quite high. Norton’s VPN enabled allowed me to stream HD video without noticeable slowdown.

My download and upload speeds were the same, but my upload speed was less when I connected with the Dutch server

Netflix US customers received bad news. Netflix US customers weren’t able to access Netflix US content. This was due to Norton’s VPN blocking Netflix.

Norton VPN does not permit torrenting. I do not think this is the best alternative as there are plenty torrenting VPNs.

Norton SecureVPN is slower than others, doesn’t allow torrenting and is compatible to Netflix and other streaming services like ExpressVPN or standaloneVPNs.

Cloud Backup

Norton cloud backup is great. But, this option is limited to PC users.

• Backups of are vital.
• Save particular files.
• Back up and delete any files you have on your computer.
• Backup your data to the cloud, local hard disk and other sources.

CloudBackup works great. The program automatically chooses 50GB worth of files to be important. Advanced users can select the folders that they wish to back-up.

Even though Norton’s backup services aren’t the most sophisticated, they can provide storage of up to 10-500GB depending on the Norton plan that you have.

Password Manager

Norton’s password management is very good. Although many antiviruses offer basic password storage, Norton’s passwordmanager is quite exceptional.

Even though it lacks the functionality and features of standalone apps 1Password/Dashlane. It’s still simple, secure, reliable, and includes helpful extras.

After I created my master password, Norton gave me the ability to import password vaults with Chrome Firefox, Dashlane and Firefox. Norton

After I had successfully imported my LastPass passwords, and navigated through PayPal, I saw a tiny Norton icon. I simply clicked the icon to enter my email and password.

Norton surpasses other antivirus providers by including vault auditoring tools within its password manager. This gives Norton an advantage over other antivirus providers.

Norton Password Manager has a mobile option that allows users to log on to their vault with their mobile device, instead of using a master password.

Norton’s password system management may not be perfect. Norton’s password management software may not be perfect.

Despite some users liking the lack in account recovery options — it means con artists are unable to access your vault — I think most people would prefer email account recovery or emergency contact options such LastPass.

Norton’s Password Management is not as powerful as standalone competitors but it offers multidevice protection, secure code generation, password automatic-fill and save, password auditing and mobile login.

Parental Controls for Safe Families

Norton’s parental settings are available for Android and iOS. These parental controls are not available for Mac. Norton was ranked in the top 10 best antivirus with parental controls in 2022.

Norton provides parents with the option to:

• Use to filter out inappropriate content.
• Hulu, YouTube, and Vimeo videos.
• Track location for mobile devices.
• Block Android apps
• Calculate usage and set time limits.
• Set emergency contacts.

I tested many parental control softwares and was able to go to violent and porn websites

Norton, however, blocked many sites correctly during my tests. The parental controls can be turned on and off individually.

Norton Safe Family offers a “School Time Mode”. This is a great option for children involved in virtual schools.

Safe Family also took every search, YouTube clip, and Hulu program from my iPhone and Chromebook.

It is amazing that Norton was able to pinpoint my iPhone’s exact location at 65 feet.

Norton’s GPS tracking devices do not feature geofencing. The GPS tracking device of Norton does not include geofencing. However, parents will be notified when their children leave a restricted area.

Norton Safe Family features many remarkable features including location tracking, YouTube monitoring and app blocking.

Privacy Monitor

Norton Privacy Watch: This simple yet powerful feature protects your personal info (PII) against being sold or misused by data brokers.

Data-brokers use metadata from thousands sites to create an individual profile. The data broker then makes a living selling the information to high value buyers.

Data brokers cannot sell your data or collect it. This is against international privacy laws. Norton requests that around 25 data brokers stop selling or collecting your data.

Access Norton Privacy monitor is available via the my.norton portal. Privacy assistant allows data brokers to be managed by Norton employees.
