Norton uses machine learning as well as a massive malware database to detect and stop malware.

To test the theory, I downloaded a database with nearly 1000 malware files.

Norton discovered and deleted 100% of my malware files. This beat Advira span or Bitdefender.

After Norton’s extensive scanning, realtime security was turned off. I tried downloading 997 malignant files, in 3 formats: zip, encrypted, and plain. Norton prohibited me from extracting any malicious zip files or encrypted malicious code.

Norton’s disk scan took me about 40 minutes on my personal computer. This is comparable in time to top competitors.

Norton’s Safe Web extension can be used with Chrome Firefox Safari Safari Edge. This extension gives you protection from phishing sites and community reviews.

Safe Web Browser Extension provides outstanding anti-phishing Protection. This browser extension can detect sites that Chrome didn’t find or McAfee’s top rivals.

Safe Web offered me the ability to isolate my web browser. After it accepted my request, I was disconnected from my rest network.

Norton SafeSearch didn’t win my vote.

LifeLock scans dark areas to protect your identity.

Norton’s darknet surveillance scans a large number of personally identifiable (PII) data.

Next came speed testing using Norton VPN in a US location.

My download speed and upload speed were the same. However, my upload speed dropped when I connected to the Dutch server

Netflix US customers received bad news. Netflix US customers couldn’t access Netflix US Content. This was due Norton’s VPN blocking Netflix.

Norton VPN is not allowed to torrent.

Norton SecureVPN works slower than others and doesn’t allow torrenting. It is compatible with Netflix, standaloneVPNs and ExpressVPN.

Cloud Backup

Norton cloud backup is a great option. But this option is not available for PC users.

CloudBackup is great. The program automatically determines which files are most important and selects 50GB. Advanced users can select the folders to be backed-up.

Despite being basic, Norton’s backup systems can store as much as 10-500GB, depending on which Norton plan you have.

Password Manager

Norton password management is excellent.

Although it doesn’t have the same functionality or features as standalone apps 1Password/Dashlane. It’s easy to use, secure, reliable, as well as offering helpful extras.

Norton’s password manager may not work perfectly. Norton’s software for password management may be less than perfect.

While some users may like the lack of account recover options — it means con artistes are unable access your vault — I think most people will prefer email account recuperation or emergency contact options such as LastPass.

Though Norton’s Password Management does not have as many features as other standalone solutions, it provides multidevice protection, secure codes generation, password auditing, mobile login, and password auditing.

Parental Controls for Safe Families

Norton provides parental controls for Android and iOS.

Norton allows parents to choose:

• Use to filter out inappropriate content.
• Hulu, YouTube, and Vimeo videos.
• Track location for mobile devices.
• Block Android apps
• Calculate your usage and set time limits
• Set emergency contacts.

I had to test many parental control programs and was able to go to porn and violent websites .

Norton blocked several websites during my tests, however. You can toggle the parental controls individually.

Norton Safe Family offers a School Time Mode. This is a great option if you have children that are interested in virtual schools.

Safe Family also used every YouTube clip and Hulu program that I had downloaded from my iPhone or Chromebook.

It is incredible that Norton was able pinpoint my iPhone at 65 feet.

Norton’s GPS tracking systems do not offer geofencing. Parents will still be notified if their children are in a restricted zone.

Norton Safe Family includes many extraordinary features like location tracking, YouTube monitoring and application blocking.

Databrokers use metadata taken from thousands of websites to create an individual persona They then make a living off the information by selling it to high-value buyers

Data brokers cannot sell or collect your data. Norton asks around 25 data brokers not to sell or collect your data.
