Norton 360 — Best Antivirus Alternative to Microsoft’s Windows Defender in 2022

Nortonremains my preferred antivirus program in 2022. It features a powerful antimalware tool and many internet security tools. The online dashboard has good user interface and provides excellent customer service. All this at an affordable price compared to other antivirus products.

Norton’s antimalware engines use machine learning, advanced algorithms, a constantly updating malware directory, and employs advanced algorithms. This engine is capable of detecting all types and variants of malware, including viruses and trojans as well as ransomware, cryptocurrencyjackers, and other malware. The system experienced very little slowdown.

Norton also has

• Parental control.
• SecureVPN (virtual private networks)
• Cloud backup.
• Privacy protection.
• Website Protection (Windows only).
• Privacy (US only).

Norton works well, but it is not perfect. Norton is good but not perfect. It doesn’t support streaming services like Netflix or Hulu.

Although Norton 360 has some flaws, I still think it’s a great deal. Norton 360 is available with a 60-day money-back guarantee. You will have ample time and space to test the antivirus and select the right one.

Norton’s packages contain a number of high-value security features. These tools can be used to improve cybersecurity protections.

Anti-Malware Engine

Norton uses a vast malware directory and machine learning to detect malware. It also provides protection against malware from iOS and Android as well Windows and Mac.

I downloaded a database of nearly 1,000 malware files for testing purposes. It contained trojans. trojans. backdoors. keyloggers. rootkits. zero day attacks. ransomware. spyware. Cryptojackers. PUPs.

Norton captured 100% all the malware files I had with a thorough scan of my system. Only one competitor has such a high level of malware detection rate (such as Advira ).

After running Norton’s full scanning, real-time security was turned on. I then tried to download 997 malicious files in three formats: plain, zipped, encrypted. Norton also stopped me from extracting any encrypted malware or zipped files.

Norton’s disk scanning took around 40 minutes on mine personal computer. This is comparable to top-quality competitors. Norton also offers additional scan options, including:

• Rapid scanner — Looks for areas where malware could be easily found. This includes temporary files and running processes.
• Custom scan — Scans specified folders and locations.
• Norton intelligence Scans files quickly.

Norton makes scheduling your virus scans easy. Norton ran a thorough scan on me from 3-5 AM to determine if I was eligible for weekly or monthly scans.

Norton will detect whether you are using full screen mode. Norton will not send notifications to you, nor initiate scans (including scheduled scanning). This is a wonderful feature. Norton will automatically suspend notifications when you go fullscreen. Norton is an excellent antivirus designed for gaming.

Overall Norton’s Malware scanner is quite good. Norton’s antivirus scanner is extremely good. The system scan detected all my malware and did not slow down my computer. This includes a quick personal scan. It was easy and quick to schedule scans.

Smart Firewall

Norton has a Smart Firewall, which is considerably more powerful that built-in Windows firewalls or macOS firewalls. In fact Norton was able in my exploit testing to detect every network intrusion.

Advanced users can modify Norton’s firewall. Norton’s firewall blocks most Windows services that are used on a public WiFi network. These include File and Printer Sharing and Network Discovery. Remote Desktop Connection and File and Printer Sharing. A complete list of these options can be found in the Permissionswindow.

Norton provides a list with 136 uncommon protocols. Norton has a list that contains 136 rare protocols. Malware can use these protocols for communication with other devices on the network. Norton will notify users if it finds suspicious activity.

Norton’s Smart Firewall, in general, is a wonderful product. It found all network intrusions and provides advanced users with a vast array of customization options.

Safe Web & Safe Search

Norton’s Safe Web extension can be used with Chrome Firefox Safari Safari Edge. It protects you against phishing sites, and offers community reviews.

This browser extension, Safe Web Browser Extension, offers very good anti-phishing Protection. It detected the majority of phishing web pages in my testing. This includes sites that Chrome failed to detect, or McAfee’s top competitors.

Safe Web provides “Isolation Mode”, which protects financial details. This disables browser-based intrusions. Your browser window will become “read-only” to stop malicious web scripts and malware stealing information. Isolation Mode makes it impossible for hackers to steal information from Safe Web.

Safe Web offered to isolate my browser. I was disconnected from my rest system when I accepted the request. It couldn’t screencape, copy, or paste any text into it.

Norton’s Safe Search Tool, a secure engine, provides color-coded assessments of search results. Safe Search Tool is a secure engine that provides color-coded assessments of search results. It also gave grey “untested” notifications to many sites that are really safe.

Norton’s Safe Search wasn’t my favourite. Norton’s SafeSearch wasn’t my favorite.

Dark Web Monitoring (Selected Countries Only)

Nortons dark web Monitoring scans dark forums, credit reports and breach databases to notify users of stolen information. LifeLock also provides strong identity protections for US citizens.

Norton’s dark net monitoring scans for a vast array of personally identifiable (PII).

• Bank account numbers.
• Credit cards
• Addresses.
• Information concerning driver’s license
• Insurance numbers

Norton provides a better system for data breach monitoring than other companies. This is achieved through the use of live human agents who are paid for their work in dark web forums. Norton dark web assistants can access information that is not available to most companies. You can get help and feedback if your information is posted on dark net.

You can also opt for dark internet monitoring whenever you provide your personal information. Norton’s darknet monitoring team will issue you a notification that includes instructions about how to protect you identity, privacy, and accounts.

Norton offers an excellent dark web monitoring program. US users have full access to Norton’s LifeLock identity security and services.

Identity Theft Protection (US Only).

Norton’s LifeLock identity-protection product includes a lot of features, such as

• Credit report monitoring
• Live Identity Recovery Assistance
• Legal assistance
• Credit freeze
• ID monitoring and home title.

LifeLock identity thieves protection services are excellent. LifeLock can notify you about any loan or purchase that involves personal information. LifeLock can notify anyone trying to use this information.

LifeLock does not offer protections to US users. BullGuard, TotalAV, BullGuard, and BullGuard provide credit monitoring in Europe, Canada, and the US. Their prices are lower than LifeLock. They offer less protection than LifeLock’s.

Norton’s LifeLock Plans are the best way for you to protect your finances, identity, and personal information. They are available only for US users.

Secure VPN (Virtual Private Network).

VPNs are able to hide your IP address behind any of the thousands of servers located around the world. It encrypts your web activities, helping to increase privacy.

Norton VPN also offers other security features.

• Strong encryption (256 bits AES).
• No-logs policy.
• Turn off
• Blocking ad trackers
• Unlimitted browsing data (even with the most expensive plans).

Norton’s VPN speeds are quite good. Although they are not slow, the connection speeds of Norton VPN are good.

This internet connection is via my local network and does not use a virtual private network.

After that, I did speed tests with Norton VPN connecting at a US location.

You can see that my download speed was significantly reduced but that my “ping” was increasing a lot. If you are streaming HD video or gaming Without any noticeable slowdown

Although I had the same download and ping speeds, upload speed was half as fast when I connected via Dutch servers.

Netflix US customers have some bad news. Netflix US customers were not able to access Netflix US content due to Norton’s VPN blocking Netflix’s anti-VPN firewalls. (See the list of top VPNs to access Netflix here span>

Norton VPN won’t allow torrenting. I don’t think this is the best option as there are plenty of torrenting VPNs.

Norton Secure VPN runs slower than many competitors, doesn’t allow torrenting or is compatible with Netflix and other streaming platforms, such as ExpressVPN, standalone VPNs, or standalone VPNs. It offers secure web access via a wide range of servers all over the world, which is something that many other competitors don’t offer.

Cloud Backup

Norton’s cloud backup is great. It is not available for PC users.

• Backups of are essential.
• Save particular files.
• Save/delete backed-up files on your local disk.
• Keep your data safe by backing up to the cloud and local hard disk.

Cloud Backup works great. It will automatically select 50GB worth files that are important and then allow advanced users to go to the “What Section” section to select the folders they wish to back up.

Though Norton’s backup service isn’t the most advanced, it can provide up to 10-500GB of storage depending on which Norton plan you have.

Password Manager

Norton’s password manager is very good . A lot of antiviruses already have password managers, but they don’t offer enough to make Norton stand out.

Although it lacks the functionality of standalone apps 1Password/Dashlane it is still simple and secure, with useful extras.

Here are the password managers for Norton:

• Unlimited password storage.
• Synchronization for Macs, Macs & Androids.
• Chrome extensions Firefox, Edge Safari Safari Chrome and Chrome.
• HTML Auto-save/auto-fill
• Password generator.
• Password vault auditing.

Norton gave me the option to import password vaults using Chrome Firefox, Dashlane or Firefox after I created my master password. Norton

Once I had successfully imported my passwords into LastPass, and navigated to PayPal I saw a small icon from Norton. I simply clicked the icon and entered my email and password.

Norton surpasses all other antivirus providers by including vault auditing tools within its password management. It includes vault auditoring tools in its password management. This puts Norton ahead of other antivirus providers.

Norton’s Password Manager offers a mobile login option. It allows users with their mobile device to log in to the vault instead of using their master password.

Norton’s password management system may not be perfect. My first issue was Norton’s inability to provide account recovery or emergency access. Norton can’t provide emergency access or account recovery if your master password is lost. It is not possible to create a hint for an encrypted string that contains random numbers and letters. This is what a master passphrase should contain.

Although some users might like the lack account recovery options — it makes con artist unable gain access to your vault — I think most users would prefer email Account Recovery or emergency contact options.

Norton’s password management isn’t as powerful than standalone competitors, but it provides multi-device protection, secure code generator, password automatic-fill and password save, as well as vault auditing and vault login. Norton was ranked as the #1 antivirus program with password management in 2022.

Parental Controls for Safe Families

Norton’s parental controls are available for Android, iOS and Windows. They are not available on Mac. Norton is ranked the #1 Antivirus with Parental Controls.

Norton Safe Family provides a “School Time” mode. This allows only the parents to access apps and websites important for their child’s education. This can be extremely beneficial for any kid involved in virtual school.

Safe Family also filmed every search and YouTube video I made from my iPhone, Chromebook, and Chromebook.

Access to Norton’s app blocker, location monitoring and usage scheduling tools can all be done easily via the online dashboard. It was remarkable that Norton could pinpoint my iPhone’s exact position at 65 feet.

Norton’s GPS tracking device does not have geofencing alerts. However, parents are notified if their children go outside of a restricted area. Bitdefender, Bitdefender and others include geofencing as part of their parental controls. This would be a wonderful addition to Norton’s product line.

Norton Safe Family has many impressive features, including app blocking, usage restrictions, location tracking and YouTube monitoring. This is undoubtedly the most intuitive and comprehensive parental control app on the market.

Privacy Monitor

Norton Privacy Watch is a simple, yet effective feature that protects your personal information (PII), and prevents it from being sold or used by data brokers.

Data brokers use metadata taken from thousands websites to create an individual identity profile. This profile can contain your last address as well as your family names, favourite brands and birthday. Data brokers then make a living by selling the information to high-value buyers.

The collection and sale of your personal data by data brokers is prohibited under all laws.

Access Norton’s Privacy Monitor is available via the my.norton online dashboard. Privacy Advisor allows you the option to have your data brokers handled directly by Norton employees.
