Norton 2022 — Best Internet Security Suite for Gamers

Nortonremains my favourite antivirus program for 2022.

Norton’s antimalware engine employs machine learning and advanced algorithms. The antimalware engine uses machine learning and advanced algorithms.

Norton antivirus is good, but not perfect.

Norton 360 isn’t perfect but it’s still a great product.

Norton offers a range of security tools and features that can help you with your cybersecurity protection.

Protection against phishing, firewall protection, and protection against webcams all come with the cheapest plan.

Norton Security Features

Anti-Malware Engine

Norton uses machine learning and a comprehensive list to detect malware.

To test it, I downloaded over 1,000 files of malware.

Norton found 100% of malware files on my computer by running a system scan.

After running Norton’s full scan, I was able switch on my real-time security and attempt to download the 997 Malware files. Norton also blocked zip files and encrypted malware files I tried to extract.

Norton’s disk scanning took about 40 minutes on my personal computer. This is comparable with top-ranked competitors

• Quick Scan — This scans areas that are most susceptible to malware being detected, such temporary files or running processes.
• Custom Scanning — Scans specified folders, disk positions
• Norton insights Scans files quickly.

Norton makes it easy to schedule your virus scanners. Norton did a full scan of my computer around 3:30 a.m. I have the option to schedule monthly or weekly scans.

Norton will detect if your apps are in full-screen mode and will notify you if they do.

Norton’s antivirus scanner is good overall.

Smart Firewall

Norton Smart Firewall is much more powerful than Windows’s firewalls. I was actually able to detect all network intruders during my exploit testing.

Advanced users can personalize Norton’s firewall. The firewall also blocks remote desktop connections. To enable these options, you can still access the Permissionswindow.

Norton has created a list with 136 rare protocols. This protocol is used to send malware over networks to other devices. Norton has created a list with 136 rare protocols.

Norton Smart Firewall is a great product. It detected all network intruders during my testing and provides advanced users with an incredible array of customization options.

Safe Web & Safe Search

Norton’s Safe Web Extension Chrome Firefox Safari Safari Edge is now available.

The Safe Web browser extension offers excellent protection against phishing attacks. It found every phishing website I tried, even those McAfee and Chrome failed to detect.

Safe Web’s Isolation Mode protects financial data.

Norton’s Safe Search Tool offers color-coded assessments of search results.

Norton Safe Search is not my favourite. It doesn’t correctly identify dangerous websites as safe and vice versa. Norton Safe Search isn’t my favorite.

Dark Web Monitoring (Select countries only)

Norton’s dark web Monitoring scans credit reports and dark forums to inform users if any of their information has been stolen. LifeLock provides strong identity protection for US customers.

Norton dark net monitoring scans search for personally identifiable information.

• Insurance numbers

Norton’s data breach monitoring program is superior to others. Norton agents are paid to access dark web forums. This makes it possible. Norton darknet assistants can locate information that companies cannot.

Dark internet surveillance is activated when you submit information. Norton’s dark internet Monitoring team will send an email with instructions for how to protect yourself, your accounts and other details.

Norton provides a great dark Web monitoring service. US users have access to Norton’s LifeLock identity protection and services.

Identity Theft Protection (US Only).

Norton’s LifeLock identity security products offer many features, including

• Credit report monitoring
• Live Identity Recovery Assistance
• Legal assistance
• Credit freeze
• Title, court record and ID monitoring of the residence.

LifeLock identity protection offers great protection. LifeLock notifies anyone who attempts to use your data.

LifeLock is only available to US users. BullGuard and TotalAV provide credit surveillance in Europe and Canada for less than LifeLock. They do not provide the same protections.

Norton’s LifeLock Plans provide the best protection of your identity, financial investments, and personal identifying information.

Secure VPN (Virtual Private Network).

VPNs hide your IP address behind thousands upon thousands of servers all over the globe. Encrypts your web activity for privacy.

Norton Secure VPN provides users with access to many servers around world using Norton’s Secure VPN. Norton Secure VPN allows users to connect to servers located in Australia (Japan), Singapore and other less-known countries via Norton’s SecureVPN.

Norton VPN provides many security features.

• Strong encryption (256 bits AES).
• No-logs policy.
• Use to disable
• Blocking ad trackers
• Unlimited browsing data, even with the most expensive plans.

Norton’s VPN connections are fast. But, they can slow down your VPN connection.

This is my internet access via my local network.

The speed tests were then done using Norton VPN. It is connected to a US Server.

Although my download speed dropped a bit, my “pinging” went up a lot. Norton VPN allowed me to stream HD video and surf internet with no noticeable slowdown.

My download and upload speeds were equal, but my upload speed was half that of when I connected via Dutch servers

Netflix US customers are in for a surprise. Norton’s VPN won’t allow me to access Netflix US content.

Norton VPN does not allow torrenting. The VPN stopped working after I opened any torrent client.

Norton Secure VPN is slower than its competitors and does not allow torrenting. It is not compatible with Netflix, standalone VPNs or Netflix.

Cloud Backup

Norton’s cloud backup system is great.

• Backups are a must.
• Save specific files.
• Back up your files and then delete them.
• Save your data to local disks or the cloud.

Cloud Backup is reliable. It automatically selects 50GB from your most important files. Advanced users can access the “What” section to select which folders to back up.

While Norton’s Cloud backup may not be the most advanced, it can help you protect your cloud data. Your Norton plan will allow you to store up to 10500GB.

Password Manager

Norton’s password management system is extremely effective.

Although it lacks the same functions as standalone apps 1Password/Dashlane, or other apps it can be used for security purposes, it is easy to use.

• Unlimited password storage.
• Synchronization computers, Macs Androids and iOS devices with Macs.
• Chrome extensions can be used for Firefox Edge Safari, Chrome, and Chrome.
• Auto-save or auto-fill
• Password generator.
• Password vault auditing.

Norton allowed you to import password vaults with Chrome, Firefox and Dashlane.

After I had imported my LastPass passwords I was able to navigate to PayPal. Norton presented me with a small icon. After entering my LastPass passwords, I navigated to PayPal.

Norton’s vault auditing tools make it safer than other antivirus services.

Norton Password Manager provides a mobile login option.

Norton’s password management software is not perfect.

Although some users might appreciate the lack account recovery tools, it makes your vault vulnerable for con artists. But, I think most users would prefer email account recovery and other emergency contact options like LastPass.

Norton’s password manager may not be as powerful as standalone antiviruses. Although it is not as powerful as standalone antiviruses, Norton’s password manager is.

Parental Controls (Safe Familie)

Norton provides parental controls for Android iOS Windows, and Windows.

Norton provides parental control. Parents can:

• Remove inappropriate content.
• Hulu and YouTube videos.
• Track location for mobile devices.
• Block Android apps
• All devices can set time limits and plans
• Set emergency contacts.

I tried many parental control programs to determine if one was suitable for me. I tried several to see which one was best for me.

But, Norton was able to block many websites correctly during my testing. Norton blocked 47 websites from different types including Cult and Hate Speech.

Norton Safe Family offers a “School Time” mode.

Safe Family also saved all YouTube videos, Hulu programmes and searches that I made using my iPhone and Chromebook.

Log into Norton’s online dashboard to view your location monitoring, blocking apps, and usage schedule tools.

Norton’s GPS tracker doesn’t have geo-fencing alarms, so parents won’t be notified if their kids move out of the designated area. Parents won’t be notified if their children move out of a restricted area.

Norton Safe Family offers the most comprehensive parental control software. It has amazing content filtering, app blocking, usage and place limitations, location tracking and YouTube monitoring capabilities.

Privacy Monitor

Norton Privacy Watch prevents brokers from selling your personal identifying information.

Data brokers collect metadata from thousands to thousands upon thousands of websites to make an identification profile. This could include your birth date, gender, family names, favourite brands, last address, and other information. This information is then sold to data brokers for a profit.

Data brokers cannot sell or collect personal information. Norton asks approximately 25 data brokers to not collect personal information.

Access Norton Privacy Monitor through my.norton. The Privacy Monitor lists your names and dates of birth. There are two options. You can either ask for the information to be deleted or you can subscribe to Norton Privacy Monitor assistant to have Norton employees handle your data brokers.
