Norton — Best Antivirus Protection with a Feature-Rich VPN 2022

Nortonremains, overall, my favourite antivirus program through 2022. It boasts a powerful antimalware system and an assortment of internet security features. The online dashboard has good user interface and excellent customer support. All this is at a fraction of the cost of other antivirus products.

Norton’s antimalware software uses machine learning, advanced algorithms, a constantly updating malware directory, and employs advanced algorithms. The engine can detect any type of malware from trojans and viruses, to ransomware, and cryptojackers. There was little system slowdown.

Norton also offer

• Anti-phishing protection.
• Parental control.
• SecureVPN (virtual private networks)
• Cloud backup.
• Privacy protection.
• Security (Windows only).
• ID protection (US only).

Norton works well, however, it is not perfect. Norton VPN works well but it is not perfect. However, it will not work with streaming media like Netflix or Hulu.

While Norton 360 has some flaws, I consider it a great deal. Norton 360 has a lot of security features that are worth buying. Norton 360 comes with a 60 days money-back warranty. You will have ample time to test it and select the best antivirus.

Norton uses machine-learning and an extensive malware list to detect malware. It provides instant protection against malware attacks from iOS, Android Windows and Mac.

I downloaded a large number of malware files to test it. It also included trojans. trojans. backdoors. keyloggers. rootkits. zero day attacks. ransomware. spyware. Cryptojackers. PUPs.

Norton captured 100% malware files from my hard drive after a thorough system scanner. Only one competitor offers such a high malware detection rate (like Bitdefender and Advira span>

After running Norton’s complete scan, my realtime protection was turned off. Next, I tried to download the exact 997 malicious files in the form of plain, encrypted, and zipped files. Norton also blocked the ability to extract zipped and encrypted files.

Norton’s disk search took 40 minutes on my computer. This is about the same as top competitors. Norton also offers additional scan options, including:

• Fast scanner — Searches for areas that malware can be detected easily, such running processes or temporary files.
• Custom scan — Scans specified folders, locations on disk.
• Norton Intelligence Scans files quickly.

Norton makes it simple to schedule your virus scannings. Norton ran a complete scan on me from 3-5 a.m. and I can set up weekly or monthly scans.

Norton’s scanning system detects whether apps are being run in fullscreen mode. Norton won’t send any notifications to you. It will also not initiate scans, including scheduled scans. This is a great feature. Norton automatically suspends notifications for fullscreen mode. Norton is a top-rated antivirus that’s optimized for gaming.

Overall Norton’s malware scanner performs well. Norton’s malware scanner works well. This includes an easy and quick scan. Scheduled scans were simple.

Smart Firewall

Norton’s Smart Firewall is significantly stronger than Windows or macOS built-in firewalls. Norton was able in fact to detect every network attack during my exploit testing.

Advanced users can personalize their Norton firewall. Norton firewall blocks all Windows services when used over a public WiFi network. File and Printer Sharing and Network Discovery are blocked by Norton’s firewall.

Norton provides a list of 136 uncommon protocols. Norton lists 136 of the most unusual protocols. Malware could use these protocols to communicate on a network. Norton notifies users when it notices suspicious activity.

Norton’s Smart Firewall has a high rating. It detected all network intrusions, as well as advanced users have a huge array of customization options.

Safe Web & Safe Search

Norton’s Safe Web extension has been added to Chrome Firefox Safari Safari Edge. It provides community feedback and protects against sites that are phishing.

Norton’s Safe Search Tool allows you to color-code search results. Safe Search Tool provides color-coded assessments on search results. It also sent grey notifications to all sites that are not tested.

Norton’s Safe Search didn’t win my vote. Norton’s Safe Search was not my favorite.

Dark Web Monitoring (Selected Countries Only)

LifeLock’s dark Web Monitoring scans dark forums, credit reporting and breach databases to notify users of stolen information.

Norton’s darknet scanning scans for a large array of personally identifiable data (PII).

• Bank account numbers.
• Credit cards
• Addresses.
• Information concerning driver’s license
• Insurance numbers

Norton offers a better data security monitoring system than any other. This is accomplished by employing live human agents paid to enter dark web forums. Norton dark net assistants can uncover information that most companies are unable to. When your data is posted to the dark net, you can get help and feedback.

Additionally, dark web monitoring is activated every time you enter your data. Norton’s Dark Net Monitoring Team will issue a notification to your email address with instructions on how you may protect your identity and accounts.

Norton has an excellent dark-web monitoring service. US users have full access to Norton’s LifeLock identity safety and services.

Identity Theft Protection – Only in the USA

Norton LifeLock identity products provide a variety of features.

LifeLock identity-theft protection services offer excellent results. LifeLock collects data from TransUnion, Equifax, and Equifax. LifeLock can notify anyone trying using your information.

LifeLock provides protections only for US users. BullGuard, TotalAV, BullGuard, and BullGuard provide credit monitoring in Europe as well as the US and Canada, for less than LifeLock. However, their protections may not be as comprehensive as LifeLock.

Norton’s LifeLock plan is the best way to protect you identity, finances and personal identifying data. They are available only for US users.

Secure VPN (Virtual Private Network).

VPNs can hide your IP behind any of thousands servers around the world. It also encrypts web activity, increasing privacy.

Norton VPN has many other security options.

• Strong encryption (256 bits AES).
• No-logs policy.
• Kill
• Blocking ad trackers
• Unlimited browsing (even with the most affordable plans).

Norton’s VPN has good connection speeds. But, they slow down your connection.

My internet connection via my network is

I then did the speed testing with Norton’s VPN connected at an American server.

As can be seen, my download speeds were reduced significantly but my “pinging” went up by a lot if you’re streaming or gaming . With Norton’s VPN enabled I was still able stream HD video and browsed the internet without any noticeable slowdown

My download speed and Ping speed were the same. However, upload speed was cut by half when connecting via Dutch server.

Netflix US customers will be disappointed. Netflix US customers will be disappointed to hear that Norton’s VPN could not get through Netflix anti-VPN firewalls. (See the top VPNs to Netflix here span>

Norton VPN doesn’t permit torrenting. Unfortunately, there are tons of torrenting VPNs.

Norton Secure VPN has some limitations. It is slower than competitors and doesn’t support torrenting. It allows encrypted internet access through a variety servers around the world. This is something that many other competitors do not offer.

Cloud Backup

Norton’s cloud-based backup service is excellent. It is only offered to PC users.

• Backups are essential.
• Save certain files.
• Save/delete backed-up files on your local hard drive.
• You can backup your data to both the cloud and to your local disk.

Cloud Backup works great. Cloud Backup selects 50GB worth of files automatically.

Norton backup may not seem the most innovative but it’s a great way to protect your data in Cloud. Norton Cloud Backup can give you up to 10-500GB depending on the plan you have.

Password Manager

Norton Security’s password management is excellent. Although many antiviruses offer basic password storage capabilities, they are not sufficient to make Norton security’s password manger stand out.

Even though it lacks the functionality of standalone apps 1Password or Dashlane’s, it’s easy and secure with useful extras.

Norton enabled me to import password vaults with Chrome, Firefox, and Dashlane. After I created my master password, Norton also provided the option.

When I had imported my LastPass passwords, and navigated towards PayPal, Norton presented me a small icon. I typed my email address and password into the box.

Norton uses vault auditoring software to beat other antivirus companies. Norton beats all other antivirus providers by including vault auditoring tools in its password-management system.

Norton’s Password Manager features a mobile login function. It allows users access their vault from their mobile device and not their master password.

Norton’s password management program is not perfect. Norton doesn’t allow users to create a hint password for their master password. It can be difficult to create an hint for a string composed of random numbers and alphabets. That is what a master keyphrase should contain.

Users may appreciate that there are no account recovery options. It makes it difficult for con artists to access your vault. But I think most users prefer email account Recovery and emergency contact options like LastPass.

Norton’s password manage is not as powerful and flexible as standalone products, but provides multi-device backup, secure code generators, password generating, password automation, password-saving, password fill, password autofilling, password re-fill, mobile login, vault auditing and password autofill. Norton was actually ranked #1 antivirus that can manage passwords in 2022.

Parental Controls (Safe Family).

Norton has parental controls available for Android iOS Windows and Windows.

Norton parental controls give parents the opportunity to:

• This allows you to filter inappropriate content accurately.
• Hulu and YouTube videos.
• Track location for mobile devices.
• Block Android apps
• You can set time limits, plan usage, and create a budget for all your devices.
• Set emergency contacts.

I’ve tried several parental control tools in an effort to find one that was suitable for my little girl. BullGuard parental settings were enabled and I was able, with no problem, to view porn and violent video.

Norton blocked numerous sites during my tests. Norton was able, during my tests, to block 47 different categories websites, including Hate Speech, Cult, Abortion, and Hate Speech. It allows you to toggle individual parental controls.

Norton Safe Family features a “School Time” option. This mode allows access to only apps and websites the parent considers essential for their child’s education. This can prove to be very useful for children who take part in virtual school.

Safe Family also took every YouTube video and Hulu program search I did on my iPhone, Chromebook, Chromebook, and PC.

All Norton’s usage scheduling, location monitoring, blocker, and app blocking tools can be accessed from the online dashboard. It was incredible that Norton could pinpoint my iPhone’s precise location at 65 feet.

Norton’s GPS Tracker does not come with geo-fencing notifications so parents are not notified if their child leaves a restricted area. Bitdefender, Bitdefender (and other companies) include geofencing into their parental controls. This would be a fantastic addition to Norton’s product lineup.

Norton Safe Family is very proud of its content filtering capabilities, app block, usage limitations and location tracking. This is without doubt one of the most user-friendly parental control apps available.

Privacy Monitor

Norton’s privacy watch protects your personal identifying (PII), from being sold on to data brokers.

Data brokers make use of metadata collected from thousands on websites to create an Identity Profile. The profile can contain information such as your last address, family names and favourite brands. It also includes your gender. The data brokers then make money by selling this information at the highest price.

Data brokers can’t sell your information or collect it under privacy laws.

Access Norton’s Privacy monitoring can be accessed via my.norton’s internet dashboard. Privacy Watch allows you two options. You may either ask for the deletion of the information directly from each site or subscribe to Norton Privacy Monitor assistant to have the data brokers handled in Norton’s offices.
