Private Internet Access, which I researched and tested for a few weeks was one of my favorite VPNs.

PIA is user-friendly and provides great security features. It is also capable of maintaining high speeds across all servers.

Speed tests revealed that PIA scored well. I was able streaming HD content without buffering, downloading torrent files quickly, browsing the internet without interruptions and even connecting to distant servers.

PIA comes with all the standard security features like:

• Multiple encryption choices. The PIA offers 256-bit AES encryption, which is safer than 128bit AES. However, it’s slightly quicker (it was 4-5% faster in my tests).
• No logs policy. PIA will not store, track or log any browsing data. This is in contrast to other VPNs, which are not legally tested.
• Kill Switch. This feature prevents data loss and shuts down internet access after you have disconnected from the VPN.

Shadowsocks can bypass internet firewalls in countries that have severe internet censorship. It is ideal for accessing georestricted websites.

The use of Shadowsocks may slow down your internet connections. This is because it adds another layer of encryption. This is a decrease in speed compared to when I connected to a PIA Server.

Overall, PIA Shadowsocks proxy obfuscation function works great to bypass internet firewalls. It masks your VPN connection with your ISP.

PIA MACE (Ad Blocker).

PIA Ad-blocker blocks malicious websites and ads.

I tried PIA MACE on a variety of ad-heavy media outlets, as well as social media sites. PIA MACE made it impossible for ads to load on these sites, so pages loaded much faster than the normal.
